Job summary

Aerotek is hiring a Construction Laborer for Franklin, VA. The role supports construction operations by hauling mill waste to the landfill and performing general labor tasks on-site, with a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

You will operate vehicles and equipment as needed, assist with earthwork, and help maintain safe, clean job sites. The position is contract-to-hire and based in an active industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Experience performing general construction labor, including site cleanup and material handling.
• Ability to safely operate power tools and hand tools in a construction environment.
• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, lifting, and moving materials for extended periods.
• Driving experience in a construction or industrial setting, including hauling materials or waste.
• Experience with heavy equipment operations (HEO) or working closely with heavy equipment on active job sites.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized job site.
• Willingness and ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.
• Reliable transportation to and from the job site and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Haul mill waste safely and efficiently from the mill to the landfill using applicable vehicles and equipment.
• Perform general construction labor duties, including site preparation, cleanup, and material handling.
• Maintain clean, safe job sites and organize work areas.
• Move and stage materials, tools, and equipment to support construction activities.
• Use power and hand tools safely to complete tasks.
• Assist with digging, trenching, and earthwork as required.
• Drive and operate vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks, per guidelines.
• Support heavy equipment operations by assisting operators and ensuring work areas are clear.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE; adhere to site rules.
• Communicate with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks and issues.
• Work 12-hour shifts in a 7 on/7 off rotation.
