Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Construction Laborer to join the General Construction team in Pullman, WA. You will work with Superintendents, Construction Managers, and contractors to meet project objectives for facilities supporting SEL’s employee-owners.

This position requires operating power tools, performing basic repairs, and complying with safety procedures. Travel up to 5 days may be needed; valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate construction related equipment and use applicable supplies, hand, and power tools.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, and equipment installation.
  • Must read, understand, follow, and strictly enforce safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Execute facilities services and repairs of moderate complexity including handling tasks like operating power tools, site preparation, and transporting materials.
  • Assist employees in routine duties, techniques, and department goals.
  • Perform basic repairs or equipment installations, painting, and small carpentry repairs.
  • Follow and promote continuous improvement of workplace safety, environmental practices, area processes, and waste reduction opportunities.

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join as a member of SEL General Construction team. We design, build, operate, and maintain 2.7m sq. ft in over 20 countries around the world.

As a Construction Laborer, you will work along side Superintendents, Construction Managers, and external contractors to coordinate and meet project objectives in buildings that support over 8,000 employee owners achieve our mission of making electric power safer, more reliable and more economical.

Location: Pullman, WA- This position is located in Pullman, WA. Nestled in Eastern Washington, offering an exceptional quality of life. A typical day as a Construction Laborer might include:
  • Executing facilities services and repairs of moderate complexity including handling tasks like operating power tools, site preparation, and transporting materials
  • Assisting employees in routine duties, techniques, and department goals

This job might be for you if:
  • Have the ability to independently operate construction related equipment and use applicable supplies, hand, and power tools
  • Have the ability to perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, and equipment installation
  • Have demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently complete projects and tasks
  • Are able to read, understand, follow, and strictly enforce safety procedures
  • Can work various shifts, hours, and days depending on workload
  • You possess a valid driver’s license
  • Are willing to travel up to 5 days at a time
  • Can lift and maneuver 40 pounds frequently, pull weight from high/low shelves, safely ascend and descend ladders, reach, bend, grip, twist, and stand for at least 8 hours
It is a plus if you have:
  • 4 years of experience in commercial facility maintenance and operations
  • Experience with maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing

Pay Range Data: Construction Laborer: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
