Job summary
The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company invites undergraduate students to join as internship participants in our construction projects. You will assist project teams on tasks from bidding to final completion, gaining hands-on experience in the field and in the office.
Assignments include office and job site work, with potential relocation to remote sites and housing in certain situations. You will learn with mentors, perform quantity take-offs, layout, RFI reviews, submittals, and help coordinate
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management, Construction Technology.
- Willingness to assist in both office and field tasks during the internship.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Responsibilities
- Quantity take-off
- Layout
- Preconstruction/as-built surveys
- Shop drawing review/maintenance of log
- Submittal review/maintenance of log
- RFI review/submission & maintenance of log
- Interfacing with subcontractors & suppliers
- Attending weekly progress meetings
- Coordinating work between owner, architect & subcontractors
- Assisting during the bid process
- Reviewing construction documents & specifications
- Maintaining field records
