Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking undergraduates for an internship to gain hands-on practical experience in the construction field. You will assist project teams in managing projects from bidding through final completion, with assignments in both office and job site settings and potential relocation to remote sites.

Interns will learn engineering and technical aspects of projects, including quantity take-off, layout, surveys, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, subcontractor

Qualifications

• Open to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands‑on practical experience in the construction field.
• Qualified applicants will assist project teams in managing construction projects/ including all phases from bidding to final completion.

Responsibilities

• You will be learning the engineering and technical aspects of the project both in the field and in the office.
• Experience will include: quantity take-off, layout, preconstruction/as-built surveys, shop drawing review/approval & maintenance of log, submittal review/approval & maintenance of log, RFI review/submission & maintenance of log, responding to subcontractor RFIs, interfacing with subcontractors & suppliers, attending weekly progress meetings, coordinating work between owner/architect/subcontractors, assisting during the bid process, reviewing construction documents & specifications, reviewing all document revisions & clarifications, maintaining field records.
