Job summary

Midwest Construction Group is seeking an intern to support both field and office teams on commercial projects in Michigan. You’ll learn how field and office teams coordinate to hit scope, schedule, safety, and quality targets while gaining hands-on exposure to Procore/document control workflows.

You’ll assist with field safety checks, daily logs, look-ahead planning, and procurement tasks, with a path toward Assistant Project Manager or Site Superintendent roles after the internship.

Qualifications

• Working toward a degree/certificate in Construction Management, Civil/Architectural Engineering, or related trade experience.
• Comfortable on active job sites (PPE required).
• Able to read plans and learn construction documents.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive communicator.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Exposure to Procore/Bluebeam is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Project Support: assist with drawing logs, RFIs, submittals, change orders in Procore and Office tools; capture meeting notes and action items.
• Field Support: walk the site with the superintendent for safety/quality checks and progress; assist with logs, inspections scheduling, deliveries and site setup.
• Preconstruction & Procurement: perform quantity takeoffs, subcontractor outreach, and proposal coordination; help with permit/utility tracking and cost spreadsheets.
• Assist with closeout deliverables (O&Ms, punch lists, warranties) and document control.
• Support 2-week look-ahead updates and trade handoffs; keep the site clean, safe, inspection-ready.
• Duties may evolve based on intern’s interests and project needs.
