The successful candidate will work on challenging and diverse tasks in a consulting and construction quality assurance role that will require application of technical skills, project delivery, and leadership for construction projects.
Your role will be to observe and record activities associated with the Contractor’s construction progress in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will need to be self-directed, capable of independent tasks as well as supporting multidisciplinary complex teams, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in the civil construction industry with an enthusiasm for successful completion of projects that meet our clients’ needs.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monitoring, inspecting, and documenting the construction contractor’s work, including developing an understanding of the comprehensive written Daily Report that includes observations, descriptions of all work activities, measurement of installed material quantities, an accounting of labor and equipment resources utilized, a statement of general compliance or non-compliance with the work, and supporting video and photographs.
- Review project submittals, submittal review comments, and RFI and RFI responses, and incorporate them into the quality control inspection plan.
- Analyze and document construction issues potentially impacting scope, time, or cost, which may result in a contract change.
- Maintain attention to detail during construction to identify minor problems early.
- Attend Client and Contractor Weekly Progress Meetings as necessary, including review of progress relative to the schedule.
- Document compliance and non-compliance with quality control and assurance procedures.
- Assist with preparing a project punch list for deficient or incomplete work by the contractor.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Work safely in field environments, following health and safety guidelines.
- Understand underground utility construction for water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Conduct single-point field inspections, representing the Project Manager.
- Develop reports documenting QA/QC inspections, non-compliance notices, and corrective actions.
- Understand project-specific quality control and assurance standards.
- Build rapport and trust with team members and clients.
- Organize and prioritize multiple tasks with a flexible approach.
- Maintain a positive attitude with enthusiasm and passion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, and iOS applications for field reports.
Education and Experience
- Technical 2-year degree/diploma/certificate in a related field or equivalent experience; a degree in construction management or related discipline from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction observation and documentation experience.
- Experience through on-the-job consulting projects and standard tasks execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, and iOS applications for report creation.
