Job summary

STV, Inc. in Pinehurst, NC is seeking Construction Inspector Trainees to support staff while growing our construction management and CEI practice for statewide projects.

Ideal candidates are eager to learn basic inspection and testing with on-site travel to NCDOT projects; no prior experience required. Certifications within six months, valid driver’s license, and ability to lift 50 pounds are needed; nights/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No prior construction inspection experience required.
• Ability to obtain NCDOT certifications within 6 months at no cost.
• Must hold valid state driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Apply safety philosophy to all job responsibilities and work safely outdoors.
• Monitor contractor compliance with plans and specifications.
• Establish engineering controls for construction inspection.
• Prepare daily inspection reports.
• Perform on-site material testing and sampling.
• Measure and document completed work.
• Read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications.
• Communicate effectively with project staff and clients, verbally and in writing.
• Operate basic computer and tablet devices.
