Responsibilities Include

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking Construction Inspectors, preferably meeting PennDOT Transportation Construction Inspection Supervisor (TCIS) or Transportation Construction Manager (TCM) qualifications with experience consistent, but not limited to:

• Supervising field inspectors and performing inspection on roadway, bridge, and other transportation improvement projects.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, contract documents.
• Communicating and coordinating with contractors, designers, owners, project teams, and the public.
• Performing mathematical calculations based on field measurements.
• Witnessing material tests, such as soil compaction, concrete, and asphalt, and entering information and test results into PennDOT applications.
• Preparing clear and concise daily field reports, including photographs, documents, and sketches, using PennDOT’s PSA mobile app and/or ECMS, and reviewing reports from other inspectors.
• Creating as-built drawings of completed work.
• Working construction hours, which may include overtime.

Required Attributes

• High School Diploma.
• Associate's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering related field is a plus.
• NICET Certified (Highway Construction) – Level III or IV is a plus.
• Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation.
• Minimum of six years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience.
• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management may substitute for four years of experience; an Associate’s Degree may substitute for two years.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, math skills.
• Ability to work well in a team, either as an acting Inspector-in-Charge or under PennDOT Inspector-in-Charge.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, near heavy equipment, within highway work zones, and perform field work.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Highway and Bridge Construction Inspection, familiarity with PennDOT 408 specifications, applications, and standard drawings.
• Knowledge of PennDOT mobile applications and ECMS Wave 5.
• Additional certifications such as ACI, NECEPT, OSHA 10-hour, ECMS Wave 5.
• Experience in preparing Contractor Work Authorizations, Estimates, and Work Orders in PennDOT’s ECMS system.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends is a plus.
