Job summary

gpac in Dearborn, MI is seeking a seasoned Construction Inspector to support transportation and municipal projects. You will inspect utilities, read plans, and verify materials meet specs while coordinating with contractors and engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation/municipal projects.
• MDOT, State and Federal delivery practices knowledge; plus certifications.
• Degrees preferred but not required; technical training accepted.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, FieldBook, Excel and Word.
• Valid driver's license; willingness to outdoors and overtime; work authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Inspect underground utilities, roadways, pathways and bridges for acceptability.

• Follow QA/QC procedures and report deficiencies to project engineer.

Location: Dearborn, MI (Southeast Michigan; one possible Lansing-area opening) | Field + office | Permanent - Full-time | $30-$40/hr (DOE, may exceed for strong qualifications) + signing bonus

What You'll Do

• Inspect underground utilities (water main, sanitary sewer, storm), roadway, pathway and bridge work for acceptability
• Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications and contractor submittals; monitor work for compliance
• Measure, calculate and document quantities of installed materials; verify materials meet specs and testing requirements
• Follow QA/QC procedures and report contractor deficiencies to the Project Engineer
• Prepare daily inspector reports in FieldBook/FieldManager and review reports from other technicians
• Work daily with contractors, engineers, clients and agency representatives

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation and/or municipal projects
• Roadway and/or bridge construction inspection experience; knowledge of MDOT, State and Federal delivery practices
• Associate's in Civil Technology or Bachelor's in Construction Management/Civil Engineering preferred, not required
• MDOT certifications a plus: FieldManager, Density, Aggregate, HMA, Concrete, Bridge Deck/Rehab Inspection; MCA Level 1; SESC Comprehensive; Storm Water Operator
• Bluebeam, FieldBook, Excel and Word skills
• Valid driver's license with a clean record; willing to work outdoors and overtime as needed
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
