EBA Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector for a roadway infrastructure reconstruction project along southbound Kenilworth Avenue in Washington, DC.

The role focuses on field inspection, MOT management, and documentation to ensure compliance with DDOT requirements. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction inspection, familiarity with DDOT processes, and the ability to coordinate with contractors and project staff.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience, preferably roadway/heavy civil infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating with contractors and construction personnel in an active field environment.
• Experience preparing construction inspection reports and maintaining accurate project documentation.
• Experience with QA materials testing and reviewing testing reports.
• Knowledge of roadway construction activities including HMA paving, PCC concrete, curb and gutter, sidewalks, utilities, and MOT.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of roadway and infrastructure construction activities for compliance with plans, specs, and DDOT requirements.
• Inspect MOT implementation and monitor traffic control measures during construction.
• Inspect HMA paving operations, including placement, compaction, and related roadway work.
• Inspect curb and gutter, sidewalk, and PCC concrete construction.
• Monitor utility trenching, backfilling, restoration, and water utilities.
• Inspect streetlighting installation and related construction activities.
• Coordinate daily field activities with contractors, project personnel, DDOT, utilities, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting activities, quantities, labor, equipment, materials, site conditions, and progress.
• Review contractor work for conformance with plans, specs, and DDOT requirements.
• Monitor QA materials testing and review testing reports and documentation.
• Document deficiencies, nonconforming work, field conditions, and related issues; communicate findings to project personnel.
• Maintain accurate field records, photographs, material documentation, inspection reports, and other project documentation.
• Verify quantities and document completed work as required.
• Communicate construction progress, field issues, and upcoming activities with project personnel.

EBA Engineering, Inc. (EBA) is looking for an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team for a roadway infrastructure reconstruction project along southbound Kenilworth Avenue in Washington, DC. This position will provide field inspection and documentation for construction activities including maintenance of traffic (MOT), HMA paving, curb and gutter, sidewalks, utility trenching, water utility adjustments, PCC concrete, and streetlighting. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction inspection experience, familiarity with District Department of Transportation requirements, and the ability to effectively coordinate with contractors and project personnel.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Construction Inspector, your responsibilities will encompass:

• Performing field inspections of roadway and infrastructure construction activities for compliance with project plans, specifications, contract documents, and DDOT requirements
• Inspecting maintenance of traffic (MOT) implementation and monitoring traffic control measures throughout construction activities
• Inspecting HMA paving operations, including placement, compaction, and associated roadway work
• Inspecting curb and gutter, sidewalk, and PCC concrete construction
• Monitoring utility trenching, backfilling, restoration, and resetting of water utilities
• Inspecting streetlighting installation and associated construction activities
• Coordinating daily field activities with contractors, project personnel, DDOT representatives, utility companies, and other project stakeholders
• Preparing detailed daily inspection reports documenting construction activities, quantities, labor, equipment, materials, site conditions, and project progress
• Reviewing contractor work for conformance with approved plans, specifications, and DDOT construction requirements
• Monitoring quality assurance materials testing activities and reviewing associated testing reports and documentation
• Documenting deficiencies, nonconforming work, field conditions, and other construction-related issues and communicating findings to appropriate project personnel
• Maintaining accurate field records, photographs, material documentation, inspection reports, and other required project documentation
• Verifying quantities and documenting completed work as required
• Communicating construction progress, field issues, and upcoming activities with project personnel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and abilities:

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience, preferably involving roadway, transportation, or heavy civil infrastructure construction
• Experience coordinating with contractors and construction personnel in an active field environment
• Experience preparing construction inspection reports and maintaining accurate project documentation
• Experience with quality assurance materials testing and reviewing materials testing reports
• Knowledge of roadway construction activities, including HMA paving, PCC concrete, curb and gutter, sidewalks, utility work, and maintenance of traffic
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, details, and contract documents
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to accurately document construction activities, quantities, field conditions, and deficiencies
• Ability to work independently in the field while coordinating effectively with contractors and project personnel
• Ability and willingness to work primarily during night-shift hours, approximately 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to walk over rough and uneven terrain and, on occasion, stand for up to 12 hours per day
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with field inspection activities, including bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, grasping, reaching, raising hands above the head, sitting, climbing, and balancing
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on varying terrain

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous construction inspection experience on District Department of Transportation (DDOT) projects
• Familiarity with DDOT processes, procedures, construction requirements, and specifications
• Experience with roadway reconstruction projects in Washington, DC, or similar urban environments
• Experience inspecting MOT, HMA paving, PCC concrete, utility construction, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and streetlighting
