Job summary

The Pecos Area Office of the Texas Department of Transportation is seeking Construction Inspector I, II, or III to inspect roadways, bridges and related structures in Pecos, TX. Position includes plans/specifications reviews and coordination with engineers and contractors.

Entry and progression through Inspector levels offered, with a strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and adherence to project plans. Training and certifications are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent.
• Construction Inspector I: No experience required; substitutions for experience.
• Construction Inspector II: 1 year of related experience.
• Construction Inspector III: 2 years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to drive state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Attends pre-construction meetings and answers questions from contractors.
• Calculates payments due contractors for work completed.
• Reviews project progress with engineers, residents, and contractors.
• Ensures contract work conforms to plans and safety standards.
• Inspects roadways, bridges, traffic control devices and related infrastructure.
