Job summary

City of Folsom is seeking a Construction Inspector I/II to inspect workmanship and materials on public and private development projects and ensure conformance with laws, ordinances, plans, and regulations. Incumbents at the II level may oversee lower level staff and serve as SWPPP inspectors where assigned.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, coordinating with developers, documenting findings, and performing related duties as needed. The position is non-exempt and Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time sub-professional engineering or journey-level construction experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• California driver license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect materials and workmanship for City capital improvement and private projects to ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Review project plans and specifications for public and private projects.
• Confer with owners, developers, and contractors regarding schedule, hazards, and inconvenience.
• Prepare documentation and reports per city procedures.
• Coordinate work with other City departments, staff, developers, contractors, and utilities.
• Serve as SWPPP inspector and perform storm water inspections as required.
