Job summary

Techno Consult Engineering, PC is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to support a major wastewater infrastructure upgrade project in the New York City metro area. The role ensures electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

The position involves daily on-site inspection of electrical construction activities, review of drawings and submittals, coordination with engineers and inspectors,

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–10+ years of experience in electrical inspection on heavy civil, infrastructure, or water/wastewater projects.
  • Experience working with NYCDEP on wastewater treatment plant or pumping station projects highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA environments.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NYC Electrical Code, and applicable industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with field documentation and reporting systems.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • NICET certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspection of electrical construction activities including conduit installation, wiring, switchgear, motor control centers, instrumentation, and power distribution systems.
  • Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes including NEC and NYC electrical codes.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs related to electrical systems and provide field feedback.
  • Coordinate with resident engineers, project managers, and other inspectors to ensure alignment across disciplines.
  • Track and document daily construction activities, quantities, and progress through detailed field reports.
  • Witness testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including functional and performance testing.
  • Identify non-conforming work and support resolution through corrective actions.
  • Maintain strong communication with contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Support project closeout activities including punch lists, inspections, and final documentation.

What You’ll Do

Compensation

The anticipated compensation range for this position is between $50-$75/hr. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
