Construction Inspector
BL Companies is growing and looking for a Construction Inspector with experience in utility, public infrastructure, and transportation construction projects for State DOTs, municipalities, and private-sector clients.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of (3) years of construction inspection experience in roadway, transportation, utility-related projects or heavy highway inspection experience. A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a related field, or a NICET Level II certification in Highway Construction Inspection (at minimum), is preferred. Candidates with technical training or an Associate’s Degree in a related field will also be considered.
Preferred candidates shall possess the following additional certifications; NETTCP HMA Paving Inspector, NETTCP Concrete Inspector, ACI Field Technician, ATTSA Traffic Control Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and timely daily reports
Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications
Perform quantity computations and coordinate material sampling and testing
Review contractor work and progress
Participate in schedule reviews
Handle correspondence regarding construction orders
Prepare payment estimates
Preparation of Construction Change Orders
Required Experience:
3+ years of experience in construction inspection experience in roadway, transportation, or utility-related projects. Heavy Highway Construction Inspection experience is preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, preferred
A Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or a NICET Level II or higher certification in Highway Construction Inspection, preferred.
Knowledge of CTDOT Recordkeeping Procedures per CTDOTS Construction/Municipal Manuals
Experience working on State Funded Municipal Projects
Minimum Schedule of Material Testing Requirements for CTDOT Projects
Requires Daily Travel to and from Project Site
Familiarity with CTDOT State Funded Municipal Project Closeout Procedures
Experience utilizing AASHTOWare and COMPASS Software Programs
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Bluebeam Revu
