Job summary

The role is open to students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program. Local candidates preferred, with OSHA 10 and DOT certifications seen as pluses; travel to remote sites

Responsibilities

• Assist an Inspector conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations or pipelines.
• Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects.
• Assist an Inspector coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing.
• Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
• Assist an Inspector perform measurements and calculations necessary to determine quantity of work performed and materials required.
• Check layout and dimensions of work by utilizing basic tape measures, rules and other instruments.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
• Compose reports with a daily log of construction activities, field inspections, tests performed, personnel assigned, equipment used, weather conditions, and other information pertinent to the progress of the work.
• Enter and record information regarding construction projects into computer programs.
• Perform other duties as required.
