Job summary

HDR is seeking a Kansas City Construction Inspection Intern to support inspection teams on civil infrastructure projects. You will assist with observations, measurements, and documentation, helping ensure work aligns with drawings and specs.

Eligible students pursuing an Engineering degree will gain practical field experience, including testing coordination, report writing, and data entry, with supervision from Senior Inspectors.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Attention to detail is essential for field observations and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving and clear written/verbal communication are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist an Inspector conduct and document observations of construction progress.
• Monitor, record and inspect project progress and field activities.
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing (concrete slump, air tests, cylinders).
• Receive supervision from Senior Inspector and support quantity calculations.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies.
• Compose daily logs and enter project information into computer systems.
