Job summary

The Walsh Group, Ltd. is seeking a seasoned HSE Manager for our Midwest Transportation Division in the Chicagoland area. The role leads site EHS planning, audits, incident investigations, and training to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

You will coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and safety specialists, oversee records, monitoring, and SPAT processes, and promote a proactive safety culture on construction sites across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.
• CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction EHS.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and problem solving abilities with strong time management.
• Some travel required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs or ladders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site EHS plans with Project Manager and leadership.
• Coordinate subcontractor EHS protocols and audits; manage losses and hazards.
• Conduct on-site EHS audits and regulatory compliance checks.
• Lead accident investigations and incident reporting for PM review.
• Oversee drug-free workplace program and training for employees.
• Provide safety education and new-hire EHS orientation.
• Administer SPAT process on projects and deliver weekly EHS updates.
