Job summary

Marker Construction is seeking a collaborative Human Resources Generalist to partner with associates and leaders across our Columbus/Bellefontaine operations. You will balance day-to-day HR tasks with strategic initiatives that support talent development and organizational growth.

The role emphasizes recruitment, employee relations, policy interpretation, and program administration, with a focus on building trusted relationships and delivering positive associate experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in HR, business, or related field.
• 6+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple disciplines.
• Knowledge of employment practices, HR administration, benefits, recruiting, associate relations, and performance management.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Proficiency with HRIS systems (Rippling, WorkforceGo, Employee Navigator).

Responsibilities

• Manage full recruitment lifecycle: sourcing, interviewing, selection, offers, and onboarding.
• Provide guidance to associates and leaders on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns.
• Coordinate and administer HR programs: benefits, compensation, performance reviews, compliance, and development initiatives.
• Facilitate onboarding and new-hire orientation with managers to ensure engagement.
• Maintain HR records, reporting, and HRIS data; support payroll-related processes.
• Coordinate training, leadership development, and workforce planning.
• Support associate engagement, recognition, and culture-building activities.
• Build relationships with schools, workforce groups, and community partners for recruiting and development.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies; escalate risks as needed.
• Lead HR projects and process improvements to strengthen organizational effectiveness.
