Qualifications

  • Elevator experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of elevator components including rails, doors, platforms, and related hardware.
  • Load, unload, stage, and organize tools, equipment, and materials on job sites.
  • Perform general labor tasks such as drilling, cutting, bolting, and fastening under supervision.
  • Support technicians with rigging, hoisting, and movement of heavy equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and site-specific rules.
  • Learn elevator construction methods, terminology, and basic layout concepts.
  • Assist with jobsite preparation and teardown activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Construction Helper supports the installation and modernization of elevator systems by assisting technicians and lead technicians with material handling, tool usage, and basic installation tasks. This role is designed as an entry and early-career trade position, providing hands-on experience, safety training, and progressive skill development in elevator construction under direct supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the installation of elevator components including rails, doors, platforms, and related hardware
  • Load, unload, stage, and organize tools, equipment, and materials on job sites
  • Perform general labor tasks such as drilling, cutting, bolting, and fastening under supervision
  • Support technicians with rigging, hoisting, and movement of heavy equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and site-specific rules

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0–2 years of construction, labor, or trade-related experience preferred
  • Vocational, trade school, or construction-related coursework is a plus but not required
  • Military, industrial, mechanical, or technical labor backgrounds are acceptable substitutes
  • Elevator experience is a plus but not required
  • OSHA 10 preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned territory
Language Skills

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to safely perform essential job duties, understand technical and safety information, complete required documentation, and communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members.

Technical/Trade Skills
  • Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools

Physical Demands

The employee will regularly talk and listen.
This position requires regular lifting of up to 75 pounds, with assistance as required.

Employees must be able to work in confined spaces, use PPE, and perform physically demanding tasks in varying environmental conditions.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed primarily on inside elevator shafts, with exposure to noise, dust, varying temperatures, and moving equipment. Employees must adhere to all site-specific safety protocols and be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
