Elevator Technician
Summary

The Construction Technician performs installation, modernization, and repair of elevator systems, including hydraulic and traction equipment, under general supervision. This role requires increasing technical skill, mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of elevator components, blueprints, and jobsite safety practices. The position supports progressive responsibility aligned with experience, training, and certification advancement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install elevator systems and components including rails, doors, motors, controls, and wiring
  • Read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, and schematics
  • Route and connect electrical and mechanical systems under established procedures
  • Assist with or perform installation sequencing and component alignment
  • Diagnose and resolve basic mechanical and electrical issues
  • Perform assigned work in compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards
  • Coordinate tasks with helpers, lead technicians, and supervisors
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and jobsite organization
  • Participate in safety meetings and required training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. May provide work direction to Construction Helpers on assigned jobs

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2–5 years of relevant work experience
  • CET certification preferred
  • AET complete or CET enrollment with documented progression
  • OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification required
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned territory
Language Ability

Communicate clearly and professionally with field staff, customers, and internal team

Ability to follow verbal instructions and safety briefings

Technical/Trade Skills
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, ladders, and rigging equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and layout drawings
  • Working knowledge of elevator systems, components, and installation methods
  • Ability to perform basic wiring, component installation, and alignment
  • Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and jobsite safety protocols
  • Ability to identify installation issues and elevate complex problems appropriately

Physical Demands
