Job summary

CEC Companies is seeking a Cost Accountant to manage and analyze project financials under GMP contracts at our Irving, TX location. You will ensure accurate job costing, contract compliance, and timely client billings, collaborating with project managers and operations teams.

The ideal candidate will have construction accounting experience, GMP familiarity, and strong Excel skills to support month-end closes and audits. This role requires attention to detail and cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3-6 years of construction accounting experience, GMP or cost-plus exposure.
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting and cost controls.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
• Knowledge of AIA billing formats (G702/G703) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor detailed job cost records for GMP contracts.
• Prepare monthly progress billings with SOV and lien waivers.
• Track costs against GMP budgets and identify variances.
• Manage cost allocations, subcontractor invoices, and change orders.
• Ensure contract compliance and support GL reconciliation.
• Support audits with GMP billings documentation.
• Monitor retainage and lien releases; ensure proper controls.
• Identify process improvements for costing and billing efficiency.
• Involve in close processes and cross-functional collaboration.
