Job summary

United Utility Services, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage daily accounting operations, prepare financial statements, and support audits and tax filings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance while driving process improvements in a dynamic utility environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, 3–5 years of experience, and strong Excel skills. Knowledge of Sage 300 and Power BI is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification or in-progress is a plus.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• GAAP knowledge.
• Experience with Sage 300.
• Construction industry experience preferred.
• High Excel proficiency (pivot tables, v-lookup, modeling).
• Strong attention to detail and prioritization.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
• Sage 300 and Power BI experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Accounts payable: manage weekly check runs.
• Prepare weekly subcontractor payment batches and ensure compliance (COI, contracts, etc.).
• Perform month-end and year-end close processes with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
• Prepare and review account analyses and support audits.
• Assist with tax filings (sales and property tax).
• Support internal and external audits with documentation.
• Develop and implement process improvements in accounting operations.
• Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis.
