Job summary

United Utility Services, LLC in Decatur, GA is seeking a Project Cost Accountant to monitor, analyze, and report financials for assigned projects. You will track costs, prepare project-level P&L, and support budgeting, forecasting, and billing milestones with a focus on accuracy and cost control.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of cost accounting experience, a bachelor’s in accounting or finance (CPA/CMA preferred), strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Sage 300 and advanced Excel;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing, construction, or production environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Sage 300 or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).

Responsibilities

• Maintain detailed cost records for each project including labor, materials, subcontractor, and overhead expenses.
• Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and month-end close.
• Maintain and monitor job costing systems for accurate allocation to projects.
• Prepare project financial reports and identify cost overruns and improvement opportunities.
• Review and reconcile project costs to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Support monthly project reviews with Operations and Finance, providing variance analysis and forecasting.
• Prepare project-level P&L and cost-to-complete projections.
• Monitor budget vs. actual results and identify savings opportunities.
