Job summary

CPS, Inc., a family-owned construction company near O'Hare, seeks an experienced Controller to shape financial policy, drive strategy, and oversee finance, accounting, and reporting activities. You will lead day-to-day operations and supervise payroll, AP/AR, and billing, ensuring strong internal controls and audit readiness.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration with executives to guide budgeting and financial planning for multi-state operations.

Qualifications

• Recent direct experience with Sage100 software.
• Experience in account reconciliation and month-end closing procedures.
• Ability to bill customers using construction industry required formatting.
• Significant experience in preparation of work in progress schedules.
• Ability to manage payroll processing with the assistance of an outside payroll company.
• Ability to effectively communicate with executive management, staff, vendors and clients.
• Administration of 401k plan.
• Experience in multi-state accounting practices.
• Ability to oversee and improve accounting practices.
• Must have a personal commitment to quality and attention-to-detail; confidentiality and internal controls.
