Construction Field Engineer (Junior/Entry Level)

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Construction Engineer position in Oak Ridge, TN within our Projects Group.

The home office will be located in Oak Ridge, TN, with assigned projects potentially in Tennessee, South Carolina, or Virginia. Per Diem will be provided on an as-eligible basis.

This full-time role offers opportunities for professional development and growth within a DOE subcontractor project office. Ideal candidates will be organized, flexible, discreet with confidential information, proactive, eager to learn, team-oriented, and capable of multitasking amidst constant interruptions.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborate with a diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial construction projects.
  2. Support administrative and construction activities such as developing proposals, specifications, drawings, performing material takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, and attending pre-bid meetings.
  3. Learn to supervise subcontractors and communicate effectively with vendors.
  4. Prepare work plans, ensure quality control, manage costs and materials, schedule equipment, and maintain strong owner relations.
  5. Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  6. Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and assessing the percentage of work completed or installed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  2. Strong work ethic, motivated, and committed to quality work.
  3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  4. Ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates and environments.
  5. Familiarity with construction software such as CAD, P6, and Bluebeam.
