UMS is seeking hard-working, self-motivated individuals to fill Entry Level Utility Meter Installer roles.

The successful candidate should be self-motivated, have a great work ethic, and be able to work well with little supervision in various environments or inclement weather.

This position may require traveling to various job sites located in the continental United States as projects are completed or change in status. You would be compensated for your travel time between 2 active UMS projects.

Meter Installers are responsible for checking, replacing, and testing meters (water, electric, or gas). Training is provided; however, previous experience in field/utility installations is preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

UMS has designed a Pay-for-Performance structure to reward our strong performers.

No matter the project/location, you will make a minimum of $15 per hour. You will also be able to earn Production Based Incentive payments on each paycheck. The Production Based Incentive is linked to performance (i.e., the number of meters and ancillary items that you properly install).

At UMS, we value hard work and recognize the role employee benefit programs play in your decision to join our company. In this position, you will have the opportunity to participate in an overall Comprehensive Benefits Program (health, dental, vision, life, AD&D, 401K) after 30 days of service with the company.

  • Monday - Friday work week
  • Weekly Paycheck
  • Numerous opportunities for growth and advancement within the company

  • Install, replace, and remove meters and flush lines.
  • Install and activate transmitters using project-specific tools within specifications.
  • Replace meter box lids to meet AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) requirements.
  • Verify proper orientation of each new meter and conduct tests to ensure the new meter is working.

  • Visit customer premises; lay and/or replace sod in yards where repair work has been completed and ensure all property is restored. Make necessary repairs.
  • Ensure the meter is attached to the proper address/account.
  • Input data/findings into the tablet; troubleshoot device as needed.
  • Maintain records of work performed, such as jobs completed, labor, materials, and equipment.
