Job summary

Responsibilities include site investigations, take-offs, tender preparation, budgeting, coordinating with sub-trades, and preparing schedules for tender reviews.

Qualifications

• Post secondary construction engineering tech or BSc in Quantity Surveying.
• 5–10 years estimating commercial, institutional and/or industrial buildings.
• Knowledge of estimating and costing of structural concrete and steel systems.
• Experience with projects from 5 million to 50 million.
• Conceptual estimating from written or verbal instructions.
• Experience with onscreen take-off software.
• Strong knowledge of sub-contractor scopes and costing.
• Proficiency in MS Project and/or Primavera P6.

Responsibilities

• Site investigations.
• Quantity/Material takeoff.
• Check estimates for extensions, accuracy and errors.
• Prepare estimate schedules for tendering reviews.
• Budgeting/Costing.
• Contact sub-trades and suppliers for quotations.
• Participate in tender closings.
• Compile and condense successful and unsuccessful tenders.
• Follow up with invited Sub-Contractors/Suppliers to confirm quotes.
• Maintain unit price and productivity knowledge.
• Other duties as required.
