Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking an Estimator II for our Gig Harbor, WA office. You will support the estimating team by preparing portions of estimates, performing quantity surveying, pricing, bid solicitation, and cost history analysis.

You’ll work with the estimating system and prepare systems comparisons, reporting to the senior estimator in the location. Candidates with prior MEP estimating experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of estimating responsibility or significant field experience is required.
• Strong math and analytical reading skills are essential.
• Ability to learn new applications and work with MS Office and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Read and analyze technical plans and specs and include requirements in the estimate.
• Generate design development estimates with quantities and components.
• Develop project quantities based on schematic plans and elevations.
• Solicit sub and vendor quotes; ensure complete trade coverage and communicate scope.
• Prepare bid-day spreadsheets and detailed proposal tabulation sheets.
• Review trade proposals to identify gaps and overlaps in scope.
• Prepare final estimate for rollover to job cost system and adapt for cost management.
• Prepare cost analysis reports and seek value analysis opportunities.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Business travel will be required.
