Job summary

Jobot, a leading construction recruiter, seeks a Senior Estimator for DOT/heavy civil projects in the Atlanta area. The role focuses on accurate estimates, strong leadership, and mentoring a small team of estimators on complex infrastructure bids.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience, hands-on HeavyBid and AGTEK proficiency, and a track record in hard-bid and design/build environments. On-site role with relocation considered.

Qualifications

• HCSS HeavyBid and AGTEK experience required for accurate bidding.
• DOT project estimating experience required, heavy civil focus.
• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work onsite in the Atlanta, GA area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil and DOT projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop project budgets.
• Manage hard-bid and design/build estimating.
• Analyze labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor pricing and schedules.
• Review drawings, specs and contract documents; ensure constructability.
• Coordinate with PMs, operations, subs and vendors; mentor team as needed.

Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Estimator / Estimator with experience bidding heavy civil and DOT construction projects. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and AGTEK, along with experience developing accurate, competitive estimates for complex infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil and DOT projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive project budgets.
• Manage hard-bid and design/build conceptual estimating.
• Analyze labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor pricing, and project schedules.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Evaluate project constructability, staging, and construction means and methods.
• Coordinate with project managers, operations teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Develop and maintain bid schedules and assist with project planning.
• Conduct occasional jobsite visits to evaluate project requirements.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to a small estimating team, depending on experience.

Qualifications:

• HCSS HeavyBid experience - REQUIRED
• AGTEK experience - REQUIRED
• DOT project estimating experience - REQUIRED
• Experience estimating heavy civil construction projects.
• Experience with hard-bid and design/build estimating.
• 5+ years of construction estimating experience preferred.
• Experience estimating utilities, structural concrete, deep foundations, earthwork, or roadway projects preferred.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, Vista, or Procore is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work onsite in the Atlanta, GA area.

Additional Information:

This is a full‑time, onsite position in the Atlanta metro area. Relocation will be considered for highly qualified candidates.

While senior‑level experience is preferred, we are also open to speaking with motivated, earlier‑career estimators who possess the required technical skills and DOT experience.
