Job summary

Waypoint Contracting Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial and residential projects. The role analyzes plans, specs, and collaborates with subcontractors while supporting bidding and preconstruction phases.

The estimator will review drawings, assist in bid proposals, perform quantity take-offs, and identify value engineering opportunities. Site visits and coordination with internal teams are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial and/or residential construction.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Bid Management, Planhub or similar).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and documents to determine scope of work.
• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals.
• Assist in subcontractor prequalification processes.
• Develop and maintain qualified subcontractor bid invitation lists.
• Solicit, obtain, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Perform quantity take-offs and obtain material pricing.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
• Participate in pre-proposal meetings and prepare RFIs.
• Evaluate project plans and specifications for constructability.
• Help prepare, organize, and coordinate RFP documents.
• Maintain historical cost data and perform document archiving.
• Communicate regularly with management, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
