Job summary

Engage Contracting is seeking a Construction Estimator to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. This role focuses on building project bid packages, contacting subcontractors, and managing project files to prepare cost and labor estimates for bids and proposals.

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of commercial estimating experience, strong communication, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of construction management principles.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare estimates for assigned scopes and smaller projects.
• Review construction documents, bid requirements, and specifications for completeness and scope applicability.
• Develop detailed trade scopes and coordinate subcontractor outreach.
• Perform quantity takeoffs using digital and traditional methods.
• Solicit, receive, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, overlaps, design conflicts, and constructability concerns.
• Prepare bid recaps, clarifications, assumptions, and proposal qualifications.
• Participate in scope review meetings and estimate review meetings.
• Assist with conceptual budgeting and value engineering exercises.
• Develop pricing using historical data, market input, and subcontractor feedback.
• Support risk review and pricing strategy discussions with department leadership.
• Prepare and assemble bid submission documents accurately and on time.
• Assist with project handoff to operations, including scope review and estimate turnover.
• Maintain accurate cost history and estimating database information.
• Mentor Junior Estimators and Estimator I team members on assigned tasks.
