Job description

Construction Estimator works closely with Sales Managers to prepare estimates for decorative metal railing systems and associated products across assigned regions for Livers Bronze LLC. This role reports to the Estimating/Sales Process Manager. The primary purpose of the Estimator is to analyze project requirements, review relevant data, and determine the expected costs involved.

Functional Responsibilities:

1. Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation for accurate takeoff measurements and prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates using GLOBAL MRP system and PLANSWIFT takeoff software.
2. Identify opportunities for cost optimization during the pricing process. Suggest alternative products, materials, and methods that can reduce expenses.
3. Secure material and installation costs for pricing, maintaining records of estimates and supporting documentation.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Shop Leads, Materials team, Project Managers, and Drafting, to procure times and estimates to establish costs for labor and materials.
5. Work with Project Managers and Sales Managers to prepare change orders and adjustments to cost estimates after the job is awarded.

Candidate Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Desirable: BS Degree and 5+ years of experience in construction estimating; intermediate skills with Takeoff Software and MRP systems.
2. Knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, building codes, materials, manufacturing, and technology.
3. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, sketches, and specifications.
4. Proficiency in computer skills, including MRP systems, Takeoff Software, MS Office, and Internet.
5. Familiarity with metal alloys such as brass, aluminum, stainless steel, and steel.
6. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and listening skills.
8. Problem-solving skills to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
9. Effective time management, prioritizing work, and anticipating obstacles.
