Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects in various sectors, including healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, hospitality, and government.
- Evaluate and analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Conduct site visits and gather all necessary data to accurately estimate costs.
- Maintain current knowledge of trends and best practices in the construction industry, including new tools, technologies, and methodologies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects during the project planning phase.
- Prepare and present cost reports and analysis to company management and clients.
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, with a strong background in hospital, higher education, school, commercial, federal/state/government, industrial, and hospitality construction.
- Proficient in industry-specific software and technology, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and cost estimation software.
- Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and accurately.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
- Professional certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or similar is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and make decisions under pressure.
