Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Estimator for our established general contracting client in Canton, MA. The role focuses on evaluating opportunities, developing competitive bids, and guiding projects from concept to reality.

You will work with a skilled preconstruction team to shape strategy and ensure accurate, competitive cost estimates. With a salary range of $130,000 to $185,000 per year, this position offers growth within a collaborative, team-oriented environment committed to craftsmanship

Qualifications

• Experience estimating for a commercial general contractor.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Strong cost analysis and numerical skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual design through final bid.
• Review drawings, specifications, and other construction documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and value engineering opportunities.
• Develop bid packages, pricing summaries, and detailed estimate breakdowns.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, and subcontractors during preconstruction.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and pricing records.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope reviews.
• Assist with bid strategy, cost analysis, and proposal preparation.
• Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and submitted on time.

• Assist with bid strategy, cost analysis, and proposal preparation


• Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and submitted within established deadlines


• Support the transition of awarded projects from estimating to project management and field operations

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating for a commercial general contractor


• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and project costs


• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents


• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed cost estimates


• Knowledge of subcontractor procurement, bid leveling, and scope analysis


• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and construction management tools


• Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and communication skills


• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment


• High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, competitive estimates


• Ability to collaborate effectively with preconstruction, project management, and field teams
