Job summary

STO Building Group is seeking a Safety Director to proactively plan, direct and implement the Company’s ESH program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. You will support field teams across projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead safety initiatives with executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, safety management, construction or related field preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of direct commercial construction safety experience.
• Board Certified Safety Professional designation preferred (CSP, ASP, or CHST).
• OSHA 510 Certification obtained within the last 24 months.
• Thorough understanding of construction safety regulations, risk management, industrial hygiene, workers' comp and general liability.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety risks and to develop effective safety strategies.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation communication skills with ability to influence diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and lead high-performing safety teams at director level.
• High integrity aligned with company values.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Extensive travel to multiple locations required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safety program and ensure compliance across projects.
• Report to VP ESH and support SBU leadership in safety initiatives.
• Understand CCIP and contractor management processes.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Prepare monthly safety reports for management and owners.
• Ensure OSHA recordkeeping and reporting completion.
• Create and implement employee safety training programs.
