Job summary

Fort Dodge Asphalt Company in Fort Dodge, IA, is seeking a Construction Equipment Operator to run asphalt pavers, loaders, rollers, and related machinery on road construction and maintenance projects. The role requires safe operation, reliability, and the ability to work overtime including Saturdays during peak seasons.

You will join a safety‑focused team, follow company policies, and participate in on‑the‑job training to become part of one of our crews.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Previous equipment operating experience, including front end loader, is preferred.
• Physically capable to stand, squat, bend, lift and walk for long durations.
• Able to communicate effectively and work under stress.
• Willingness to train less experienced employees.

Responsibilities

• Operate several types of power construction equipment safely and efficiently on road construction projects (e.g., asphalt pavers, backhoes, rollers, loaders, dozers).
• Follow supervisor directions and safety procedures; participate in on-the-job training to become a productive crew member.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the supervisor, equipment operators will be responsible for operating several types of power construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This equipment may include, but is not limited to, asphalt pavers, backhoes, asphalt rollers, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of equipment. On the job training will provide the knowledge and skills to become a productive member of one of our crews.

This position is full-time seasonal, requiring overtime and working Saturdays as needed.

Position Requirements:
