Tri-City Group is seeking an experienced Construction Equipment Mechanic / CDL Class A Driver to join our Davenport, IA team. You will maintain, repair, and operate a range of construction equipment and vehicles used on sites and in service operations.

Responsibilities include servicing heavy machinery, diagnostics, and ensuring safe operation. Valid CDL A with DOT physical is required; 2+ years of related experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • CDL Class A license with valid DOT physical.
  • At least 2 years of related mechanical/vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Certifications in equipment maintenance or vehicle repair preferred.
  • Must provide basic hand tools and steel-toe boots before start.
  • CDL A in progress within 60 days if not held.

Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, adjust, and test mechanical equipment and components.
  • Maintain and repair heavy equipment, generators, hydraulics, and related systems.
  • Operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects and plan repairs.
  • Inspect equipment and materials to identify issues and malfunctions.
  • Perform minor bodywork and related repairs, including painting and guards.
  • Disassemble equipment to access and replace defective parts.
  • Transport equipment to service sites and document movements.
  • Clean and service equipment to support safe operation.
  • Follow all safety procedures for vehicle and load handling.

Job description

Tri-City Group is seeking an experienced Construction Equipment Mechanic / CDL Class A Driver to join our team in Davenport, IA. This position is responsible for maintaining, delivering, repairing, and ensuring the safe operation of a wide range of construction equipment, heavy machinery, vehicles, and related assets used on construction sites and in service operations.

Job Duties:
  • Service, repair, adjust, and test mechanical equipment, machines, moving parts, and related components.
  • Maintain and repair motorized and non-motorized equipment, small engines, portable and stationary generators, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, booms, derricks, diggers, bucket trucks, repair vehicles, and job trailers.
  • Operate and inspect machines and heavy equipment to diagnose defects and determine required repairs.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify causes of issues, malfunctions, or defects.
  • Perform minor bodywork and related repairs, including dent repair, painting, and adjustment of protective guards, bolts, and safety devices.
  • Disassemble equipment as needed to access, remove, and replace defective parts.
  • Drive vehicles and equipment to and from designated locations for service, repairs, and transport of materials and equipment; maintain accurate transport and service documentation.
  • Clean, inspect, and service equipment to support safe and reliable operation.
  • Follow all safe operating procedures based on vehicle and load requirements, including proper tie-down procedures prior to transport.
Qualifications:
  • Valid CDL Class A driver’s license and current DOT physical card.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in mechanical, vehicle, equipment, or machine maintenance.
  • Training programs or certifications related to equipment maintenance, fabrication, or vehicle repair preferred.
  • Must provide basic hand tools and steel-toe or composite-toe boots prior to the first day of employment.
  • Applicants who do not currently hold a CDL Class A license must be actively working toward obtaining one and be able to complete the requirement within 60 days of hire.
Physical Requirements:
  • Demonstrate the auditory and visual acuity needed for tracking, inspection, and safe equipment operation.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to help prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
