Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Construction Engineering Technician to support water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects across Southern Indiana and Kentucky. The role focuses on field coordination, inspector development, and construction administration to ensure safe, efficient project delivery.

The CET collaborates with RPRs, Project Engineers, PMs, contractors, and clients, contributing to project success through field problem-solving, documentation review, and QA activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout Southern Indiana and Kentucky
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Support active construction projects from pre-construction through project completion
  • Serve as a field resource for Resident Project Representatives (RPRs) and provide guidance, training, and project support
  • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients to help keep projects moving forward
  • Assist with construction meetings, progress updates, and project communications
  • Help resolve field questions and construction issues in collaboration with project teams
  • Review construction documentation, reports, and project records for accuracy and completeness
  • Verify materials, equipment, and products meet project specifications and contract requirements
  • Support quality assurance efforts and construction compliance activities
  • Provide field coverage on projects when inspection resources are unavailable or additional support is needed
  • Assist with project coordination related to schedules, budgets, risk management, and construction progress
  • Observe field activities and provide feedback to support inspector development and project success

Our client is seeking a Construction Engineering Technician (CET) to join its growing Construction Services team supporting water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects throughout Southern Indiana and Kentucky. This position serves as a key resource for project teams during construction and works closely with Resident Project Representatives (RPRs), Project Engineers, Project Managers, contractors, and clients. The CET plays an important role in field coordination, project support, inspector development, and construction administration while helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a background in civil engineering, construction management, engineering technology, or infrastructure construction who enjoys working in the field, solving problems, collaborating with project teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects.

What You'll Be Doing

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout Southern Indiana and Kentucky
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred
  • Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, utility, or civil engineering projects
  • Experience with water, wastewater, utility, transportation, or municipal infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of underground utility construction practices
  • Familiarity with federally funded construction projects
  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management software
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Evansville, IN.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
