Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Construction Scheduler in Ridgeville, SC, to develop schedules for large or multiple smaller construction projects and monitor progress against defined schedules.

You will collaborate with engineers, superintendents, and other teams, apply P6, create baselines, and communicate risks with recovery strategies. This contract-to-hire role is fully onsite with two weeks PTO, holidays, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field.
  • Four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Job Title: Construction Scheduler

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Scheduler to develop schedules for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities. This role involves revising and reviewing project schedules with the project team and monitoring progress against defined schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of work breakdown structure for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities.
  • Adhere to company scheduling policies, practices, procedures, and activities as referenced in the 'Scheduling Playbook'.
  • Build relationships with project stakeholders to communicate the overall project plan and support project performance, highlighting the value of scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the project team, including the Engineer and Superintendent, to confirm the Contract Item List, develop Required On Job dates, and review the Procurement Schedule for subcontractor commitments.
  • Utilize Critical Path Method logic to develop baseline project schedules using scheduling software.
  • Review and recommend decisions regarding scheduling, delivery, logistics, and Trade staffing levels.
  • Prepare and review schedule deliverables, enhancing schedule accuracy by challenging its content.
  • Work with project departments like Preconstruction, Commissioning, Procurement, and Construction to prepare detailed schedules.
  • Coordinate schedules and models with the Virtual Design & Construction team.
  • Monitor project schedule metrics and track critical path activities to achieve forecasted end-dates.
  • Update project schedule dashboards and create target comparison models and look-ahead schedules.
  • Present progress updates, explain risks, and create recovery strategies to adhere to project schedules.
  • Revise schedules based on Pull Plan reviews and incorporate the Last Planner System.
  • Identify events and manage change orders impacting the project schedule, conducting time impact analysis.
  • Capture scheduling progress data through project site walks.
  • Generate scheduling reports and summaries upon client requests, and provide monthly scheduling progress for Operations Review Meetings.
  • Support project end-users to develop proficiency in scheduling software.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing teams to prepare proposal scheduling activities.
  • Develop and update cost or resource-loaded schedules as needed.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to scheduling operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Proficient use of scheduling software applications such as Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of scheduling comparison tools like Acumen Fuse and Change Inspector.
  • Understanding of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and Trade practices.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Knowledge of estimating to support project schedule development.
  • Familiarity with earned value concepts and using construction resources for productivity validation.
  • Ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong process and analytical skills for decision-making.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Professional interpersonal skills for relationship-building with project team members and stakeholders.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and collaborative tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field.
  • Four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with large construction projects (over $50 million).
  • Experience in construction positions such as Field Engineer or Assistant Superintendent.
Work Environment

The work environment involves construction sites with limited travel required. Employees benefit from a team culture and enjoy two weeks of PTO along with 12 holidays. Worksites are well-maintained, contributing to a positive and collaborative working atmosphere. Per Diem.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ridgeville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
