Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Construction Engineering Intern for our Austin, Texas office. You will assist CEI staff with observing and documenting activities on transportation construction projects and review plans to understand contract requirements.

Ideal candidates will have completed 60 credit hours toward a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, and be proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong attention to detail and safety awareness on active sites.

Qualifications

• 60 credit hours toward a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program by the start of the internship in Summer 2027.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, willingness to learn, and ability to work safely in both office and active construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist CEI staff with observing and documenting roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and traffic-control activities on active transportation construction projects.
• Review construction plans and specifications with project staff to understand contract requirements.
• Support the tracking and coordination of contractor submittals, RFIs, change-order documentation, action items, and project correspondence.
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and project personnel while following safety requirements and procedures in active construction environments.
• Prepare spreadsheets, meeting notes, status reports, and progress updates.
• Assist project staff with verifying construction quantities and preparing pay-estimate documentation.
