Job summary

AtkinsRéalis invites a Construction Engineering Intern to join our Austin, Texas office. The role supports CEI staff observing field activities, reviewing plans, coordinating submittals, RFIs, and changes, and preparing reports.

You will work with engineers and inspectors, following safety procedures and contributing to project documentation. The program emphasizes learning, mentorship, and hands-on experience, with compensation and opportunities for growth as you progress through the internship

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication.
• Willingness to learn and work safely in construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist CEI staff with observing and documenting roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and traffic-control activities on active transportation construction projects.
• Review construction plans and specifications with project staff to understand contract requirements.
• Support the tracking and coordination of contractor submittals, RFIs, change-order documentation, action items, and project correspondence.
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and project personnel while following safety requirements and procedures.
• Prepare spreadsheets, meeting notes, status reports, and progress updates.
• Assist project staff with verifying construction quantities and preparing pay-estimate documentation.
