Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Los Angeles is seeking a Construction Engineer to support the LAWA LAX ATMP Landside project, providing field inspection, contract administration, and coordination with stakeholders.

You will work under the Resident Engineer, review submittals, monitor safety, and contribute to quality control while navigating Caltrans and City of LA requirements. The role requires a PE license or active pursuit and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience on public infrastructure projects.
• PE license or active licensure path.
• Proficient in MS Office, PMWeb/Primavera/Procore.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and have CA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support LAWA Construction Inspection Division and City of LA with nightly field inspections.
• Prepare and maintain checklists for inspections and field sampling/testing.
• Maintain project records, including plans, daily reports and as‑built documents.
• Review submittals, RFIs, directives, task orders, change notices and change orders.
• Monitor contractor progress and participate in schedule reviews and look‑ahead coordination.
• Support site safety, traffic control, environmental/MMRP compliance, and SWPPP.
