The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is seeking a talented Construction Field Engineer for critical roadway and structural construction oversight in Los Angeles. This role involves coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with project plans.
Qualified applicants will possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of related experience. Strong communication skills and construction management knowledge are essential for success in this role.
HDR is providing PM/CM services for the Los Angeles World Airports ATMP Landside Improvements Project, a critical roadway, streets, and thoroughfares improvement around Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The project spans design, preconstruction, and construction phases, supporting infrastructure transformation ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
The Construction Field Engineer – Roadway / Structures supports roadway, utilities, and structural construction oversight. Responsibilities include contract administration, construction engineering, coordination with contractors, stakeholders (LAWA, Caltrans, City of LA Departments), utilities, and third parties, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications, maintaining documentation, and supporting quality assurance and safety protocols on site.
• Minimum 4 years’ degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
• PE License in the State of California is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction inspection and management experience on similar highway, bridge, retaining wall, sound wall, barrier, drainage, sign, and other structural projects.
• Knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics, and properties of highway and bridge construction inspection, and approved methods and equipment for physical inspections.
• Ability to perform calculations such as grade, deflection, stress, and alignment, and evaluate temporary structural elements.
• Ability to review falsework plans, shoring plans, demolition plans, concrete mix designs, and other submittals.
