Job summary

The Village of Lombard is seeking a full-time Electrical Inspector in Lombard, IL, to perform electrical inspections across building projects and to assist with basic building inspections as needed.

Responsibilities include inspecting electrical work during construction, reviewing plans, and ensuring safety and code compliance. Requires a valid Illinois Electrical License and ICC certifications within nine months, with potential for a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Electrical License.
• Excellent communication and ability to articulate information with staff, contractors, and residents.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications; compare to ongoing construction.
• Experience in permitting, installation, and alteration of electrical work for new construction (residential/commercial).
• Able to work with inspection team and follow Building Division procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical inspections for buildings throughout construction to ensure safety and code compliance.
• Inspect electrical installations during construction and upon completion for workmanship and code adherence.
• Conduct some on-site building inspections and respond to property maintenance or code-violation inquiries.
• Review plans for proposed electrical work.
