Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company offers an internship in construction environmental health and safety (EH&S). Open to undergrad and grad students, you’ll support project teams with EH&S programs on construction sites, with assignments on both office and field settings.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an EH&S-related degree and possess strong communication and teamwork skills. Relocation to remote sites may occur; housing may be provided in certain situations.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a degree in environmental health and safety or a closely related field.
• Open to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Assignments include office and job site; relocation to a remote site may be required.
• Transportation is required.
• Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safety onboarding and safety meeting processes.
• Assist in performing regular job site inspections to identify, document and mitigate hazardous conditions and verify corrections.
• Assist in evaluating planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, Pre-cast Tilt-Up for mitigation techniques.
• Assist in incident investigations including interviews, data compilation, photographs and proper documentation.
