Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a skilled Construction Coordinator to join the Disaster Services team. This grant-funded, temporary full-time role coordinates residential repair and reconstruction for homeowners affected by the May 2025 St.

Louis tornado. You will assess properties, develop scopes/budgets, coordinate bids and permits, and liaise with homeowners, contractors, DCMs, and partners to ensure safe, on-schedule, grant-compliant projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum three years in residential construction, rehabilitation, housing repair, or related field.
• Experience developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for repair/construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Disaster Case Managers and recovery staff to identify, prioritize, and coordinate residential repair and reconstruction projects.
• Serve as primary liaison among homeowners, contractors, volunteers, DCMs, and community partners.
• Conduct home and site visits to assess damage and eligibility for repair assistance.
• Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for approval.
• Obtain and manage bids, permits, and required project documentation.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure projects are on time, on budget, and to spec.

Job Summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a skilled Construction Coordinator. This coordinator will join the Disaster Services team and the position is a grant‑funded, temporary full‑time position responsible for coordinating residential repair and reconstruction projects for homeowners impacted by the May 2025 St. Louis tornado. This position conducts property assessments, develops scopes of work and project budgets, coordinates bids, permits, contractors, and project activities, and serves as the primary liaison among homeowners, Disaster Case Managers, contractors, and community partners to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with grant requirements and applicable building codes. Continued employment may be available based on grant renewal and organizational needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Disaster Case Managers (DCMs) and recovery staff to identify, prioritize, and coordinate residential repair and reconstruction projects.
• Serve as the primary liaison among homeowners, contractors, volunteers, DCMs, and community partners throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct home and site visits to assess disaster-related damage and determine eligibility for repair or reconstruction assistance.
• Perform interior and exterior property assessments and document findings to support project recommendations.
• Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, project budgets, and project schedules for approval.
• Obtain and manage contractor bids, material quotes, permits, and required project documentation.
• Monitor contractor and volunteer performance to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to approved specifications.
• Track project progress, expenditures, milestones, and funding compliance from initiation through closeout.
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper allocation of grant‑funded resources.
• Maintain complete and accurate project records, calendars, schedules, and tracking systems.
• Prepare weekly project status reports and meet regularly with the Program Director to review project priorities, budgets, and timelines.
• Participate in Long-Term Recovery Committee meetings and support project inspections, closeout activities, and reporting requirements.

Job Requirements

• Associate degree, technical certification, trade school training, military experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering, Community Development, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in residential construction, rehabilitation, housing repair, insurance restoration, property assessment, facilities maintenance, project coordination, or a related field.
• Experience developing scopes of work, cost estimates, project budgets, bid specifications, and project schedules for residential repair or construction projects preferred.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, volunteers, and other stakeholders to successfully complete construction or rehabilitation projects preferred; experience in nonprofit, government, disaster recovery, or grant‑funded programs is a plus.
• Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, proof of automobile insurance, and ability to conduct site visits throughout the St. Louis area required; ability to read blueprints and construction plans preferred.
