Job summary

Metal Building Industries seeks an experienced Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management for our PEMB-focused commercial construction operations.

You will partner with project managers and leadership to analyze performance, drive improvements, and ensure strong internal controls. A CPA/CMA is favorable; 5+ years in construction accounting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting and financial management experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, strongly preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Professional certification (CPA, CMA) favorable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial operations including financial reporting, month-end close, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports to support business decisions.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, and collection activities to maintain financial stability.
• Oversee construction accounting functions including job costing, WIP reporting, project billing, retainage tracking, and profitability analysis.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
• Partner with project managers and leadership to analyze project performance and improve financial results.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, regulatory compliance activities, and financial documentation.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and financial systems.
• Lead and develop accounting team members, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
