Job summary

CPM Builders in New York seeks an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day financial, job-cost accounting and compliance across multiple active projects. You will partner with executives and project teams to ensure rigorous financial discipline, risk management, and accurate reporting under ASC 606, PCM, and WIP.

The role requires a CPA/CCIFP preferred, 7+ years in construction accounting, bilingual English/Spanish, and strong leadership of a finance team.

Qualifications

7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role (Controller or Assistant Controller).
Experience with construction accounting, ASC 606, PCM, and WIP reporting.
Experience with multi-project accounting and subcontractor networks.
Strong Excel skills (XLOOKUP, pivots) and cash flow modeling.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

WIP & job cost accounting: manage monthly reporting, over/under billings, variances, and cost-to-complete projections.
Financial reporting: close books monthly, prepare statements, reconcile balance sheet, and produce divisional reports.
Billing, receivables & cash flow: oversee AIA-based billing, retainage, aging analyses, and cash forecasts.
Payroll reconciliation & job cost allocation: ensure hours are correctly allocated to projects and payroll data is accurate.
Subcontractor & regulatory compliance: oversee lien waivers, COIs, and wage/payroll compliance.
Audit, tax, surety & banking: liaise with auditors, prepare compliance packages, and manage licenses and taxes.
Team leadership & system optimization: mentor staff and drive ERP/field-management improvements.
