Job summary

Fortune Electrical Construction seeks an experienced, hands-on Controller at our Fort Myers, Florida location. The role leads accounting, financial reporting, and close processes, with active involvement in day-to-day details and project-level financials.

The ideal candidate has construction accounting expertise, including progress billing, job costing, and WIP reporting, and reports to the CFO. This is an in-person role collaborating with leadership, PM, operations, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience in leadership roles (Controller/Accounting Manager).
• Direct experience with progress-billed construction accounting.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail with multi-priority management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on involvement in accounting operations, not only oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and schedules.
• Maintain and review job cost accounting for active projects.
• Oversee progress billing and contract billing applications.
