Job summary

Sanford Business Experts is seeking a seasoned accounting leader to head the finance department for a fast-growing Oklahoma City construction company. This role oversees AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and regulatory compliance while driving financial strategy and project profitability.

The ideal candidate brings 5–10+ years of construction accounting experience, strong leadership, and hands-on expertise with Sage 300, Viewpoint, and Procore Financials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
• 5–10+ years of accounting experience, construction industry required.
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and project financials.
• Experience with construction accounting software (Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, Procore).
• Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a small accounting team.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly with project managers, executives, and field leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the accounting department, including AP, AR, payroll, and job cost accounting
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Maintain and improve job cost systems, WIP schedules, and project profitability reporting
• Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory adherence
• Oversee subcontractor compliance: liens, insurance, contracts, pay apps
• Manage audits, bonding requirements, and banking relationships
• Review and approve project billings, COs, and cost allocations
• Implement internal controls and strengthen financial processes
• Provide strategic financial insights and scenario planning
• Oversee payroll processing, multi-state compliance
• Manage fixed assets, depreciation schedules
• Lead software optimization (Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore Financials, Foundation)
